Almus® Patient Safety Award 2007
25 July 2007

Now in its third year, the Almus® award aims to recognise some of the significant developments that have taken place in pharmacy during this time and to acknowledge pharmacists’ insight, expertise and the many achievements they have demonstrated in supporting their patients.

Pharmacists throughout the UK are continuing to create new services, protocols and clinics which are proving to make a real difference to the safety and welfare of patients as well as shaping the future success of pharmacy. This award highlights the exemplary measures pharmacists take to ensure concordance from patient presentation of a prescription through to safe use of medication in the home.

Almus Pharmaceuticals invites pharmacists, dispensing technicians and pharmacy teams to submit a summary, or case study, on services or patient safe practice management within the pharmacy. Entries offering a long- lasting benefit for pharmacists and patients within their local community have the opportunity to win funding of £1,000 towards continuing development. £1,800 award prizes and funding to be won with all entries included in a prize draw.

“Pharmacists have an important role to play in safe medication provision and managing medicine usage, with UK community pharmacists among the best in Europe at tackling these issues. It is important that we encourage pharmacists to excel in this area, that patient safety champions should be identified and acknowledged and, that we continue to learn from these leading edge practitioners,” Colette McCreedy, Director of Pharmacy Practice, NPA
